Sydney three-piece Julia Why? have just dropped Candy, the lead single to their currently untitled second record. Debut record Wheel is a raucous yet charming affair of female lead bash and crash garage rock. Having since undergone a change of guitarists, we were delighted when we caught their set supporting The Courtneys at Oxford Art Factory this past August as said change has not affected the groups’ ability to have fun.

Opening with a combination of dry drums, boozed up bass grooves and clean guitar tones before exploding into a frenzy of ferocious vocal delivery and distorted strings. On Candy, Julia Why has found the golden ticket and is right in the middle of a trip to Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, they don’t sit still for very long, the track progressing into unexplored territories as soon as your ears gain a sense of familiarity. Candy is so sweet, you’ll develop type two diabetes.
