The Living Eyes are gearing up for their third full-length release Modern Living (Antifade AUS, Neck Chop USA, Gone With the Weed, EU). Horseplay is the lead single from Modern Living.  The band’s previous efforts have had a distinctly 60s garage rock-influenced sound, despite naming the band after a venue the 13th Floor Elevators played you won’t find The Living Eyes experimenting psychedelics, preferring a dirtier sound more akin to the protopunk of the Electric Eels.

Horseplay wouldn’t sound out of place on one of your twisted Uncle Rob’s Back From The Grave Comps. The drums punch through the sludge of the bass as they drive the track forward, the guitars are distorted with a decent solo kicking in along the way, the vocals are slightly less nasal than on both Living Large (2015) and The Living Eyes (2013). The Eyes won’t take your excuses on Horseplay.

The Living Eyes’ Modern Living is out November 17th worldwide.
